Amidst the chaos that is happening right now in our world I find comfort in a few things. My meditation practice which I have to really discipline myself to stick to, although being newly pregnant has brought morning sickness and so my usual morning meditation has sort of taken a back seat. But I did today! And working out! You know it! I can't really function like a normal member of society (which might not be the best thing right now come to think of it) without staying physically active.
When I became a new mom the intense feeling of loss of control over my personal life became apparent and hard for me to deal with at first. Having had 10 years of practice now as a stepmom and biological mom, again staying physically active is my go-to mental health practice.
It's my time to be with myself, by myself, because as we know as moms, even the sacred bathroom time isn't exactly private.
So while we are all hunkered down in our homes and losing our minds slowly, I wanted to be a part of the solution and not the hysteria. I have no problem staying home since I am a homebody and well, dragging my 3 kids around isn't exactly what I call a good time. I am so thankful to all the people out there who continue to work in grocery stores, hospitals, agriculture and everything else that is keeping this country functioning.
My only contribution that I can think to make, is some peace of mind, coming at you virtually through a workout program and some recipes and meal prepping ideas since we are now shutting down restaurants!
